Are you a traveler of the world? Do you like Canadian cities? Do you like cold weather? Visit Saskatoon.

Saskatoon is located in central Saskatchewan in Canada. The city is situated on the South Saskatchewan River. Saskatoon is a popular city in the province of Saskatchewan. The city has over 220,000 people living in the area, as of 2011. The city’s name means “at the saskatoon berry.” In 1883, Toronto Methodists wanted to escape the liquor trade in Toronto and establish a “dry” city. As a result of the temperance movement, Saskatoon was founded by the Temperance Colonization Society. The settlers were headed by John Lake. The first school was Victoria’s School. It opened in 1888. The small school is located on the University of Saskatchewan’s campus. Bridges and railways were built during the late 1890s to 1900s. As a result, Saskatoon’s population grew. The University of Saskatchewan’s acquisition, economic growth caused by the Barr colonists, Saskatoon being a stop on western Canada’s railway, and the temperance colony settlement, are all factors causing the growth of Saskatoon. When World War I was over, the Depression and the Dirty Thirties settled in Saskatoon. As a result, the employment amount declined in the region. It would take another war, World War II, to get Saskatoon to be economically involved. The city was the site of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan and was a service and distribution center. Furthermore, technology, education, and cultural contributions have expanded as a result of growing demand. Saskatoon is known as a hub city.

Some sites for you to see while in Saskatoon are The Bessborough Central Business District. This site is an relatively old building with many floors. This building was built in the early twentieth century. Another place for you to visit if you are into education is the University of Saskatchewan. You can rent a car, if you are twenty-five years or older, to drive around Saskatoon.
